The first National Certificates on Computer Operation were awarded to a group of public servants that attended the computer training courses in the framework of the pilot project on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) training of 150 civil servants.

First Training Course for Civil Servants

On May 14-18, 2007, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Moldova has organized the first training course in Information Technologies for 21 civil servants employed in the central public administration, based on the curriculum elaborated with the support of the UNDP Project “Buidling Electronic Governance”

Moldova has celebrated the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day in Moldova was celebrated on May 17 at the National Theatre “Mihai Eminescu” from Chisinau. Almost 300 people, representing public central and local authorities, state and private companies involved in the telecommunication system were present at the celebration.

Today, from traditional telecommunications to the latest advances in cyberspace, ITU continues to provide Governments, the private sector and civil society with expert guidance and assistance in addressing issues related to information and communication technologies. Following the successful conclusion of the two phases of the World Summit on the Information Society, the entire UN system is committed to the Plan of Action strongly linking ICT with development.

Moldova is on the way of becoming an Information Society of European level

On May 17, we celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. This year’s holiday is dedicated to “Helping young people to communicate”. This day marks the foundation of the International Communication Union. In March 2006 the General UN Assembly, at the World Summit for Information Society (WSIS), has proclaimed May 17 as the International Information Society.

Free/Open Software: A global community for local interest

April 25, 2007, Chisinau. The 2007 BIT+ Conference agenda included the Roundtable regarding the “Issues of open software ( FOSS/FLOSS) implementation in e-Governance applications”. The roundtable sessions were moderated by Mr. Ion Cosuleanu, manger of the “Support for e-Governance Implementation” UNDP Project in Moldova.
