National Strategy & Action PlanNational e-Strategy for Building an Information Society „Electronic Moldova” was approved on 9 March, 2005, by Government Decision No. 255, which established the implementation of electronic governance as one of the country’s priorities. “ As a modern European country that has chosen a democratic path to development, the Government of Moldova recognizes that joining the global knowledge economy is a national priority. Building an Information Society is therefore critical to Moldova ’s development and must occur in a manner that is inclusive and equally beneficial for all citizens .(…)" National and international evaluations show that Moldova possesses all necessary advantages that can be leveraged in its development of a knowledge economy : educated population , social consent, infrastructure in development, high scientific potential, a well-developed educational system with certain industrial specialization in information and communication technologies, openness to international cooperation, receptivity of the public and private sectors to new technological developments.” (Excerpt from the National Strategy for building the information society „Electronic Moldova” approved by the Government of the Republic of Moldova to implement the Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova No.1743-III of 19 March 2004 „ Regarding the Information Society Development in the Republic of Moldova ” (Official Monitor of the Republic of Moldova, 2004, no.50-52, art.300) and Government Decision No.632 of 8 June 2004 „Regarding the Approval of the Policy on Information Society Development in the Republic of Moldova” (Official Monitor of the Republic of Moldova, 2004, No. 96-98, art.789)).
